HEAD OF DEPARTMENT WET CONCENTRATION PLANT & DREDGE OPERATIONS - M/F

 

Grande Côte Operations (GCO), a subsidiary of the Eramet group in Senegal, is active in the development, production and shipping of mineral sands, and more specifically Ilmenite, Zircon, Rutile and Leucoxene. Purpose of the position:

Our Mine Operations Direction is looking for a Head of Department (HOD) Wet Concentration Plant (WCP) & Dredge Operations (M/F) on a permanent basis contract based in Diogo, Senegal with a rotational schedule (5 weeks ON x 3 weeks OFF).

The HOD WCP & Dredge Operations will be responsible for safety, production and operations performance of the WCP and the Dredge.

Also, he/she will be the back-to-back of the Mine Operations Manager.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Promote a safe work environment
    • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental management standards.
    • Conduct incident investigations and safety audits.
    • Propose and implement improvements to safety management systems.
    • Monitor and enforce compliance with health and safety guidelines.

 

  • Responsible for Production performance and Metrics
    • Monitor and achieve daily, weekly and monthly production targets.
    • Efficiently manage consumable stocks, controlling costs.
    • Ensure product quality meets specifications.
    • Produce profitably within approved budget.
    • Monitor and report production figures in accordance with company standards.

 

  • First-Line maintained operations
    • Collaborate with maintenance departments to ensure maximum equipment availability and utilization.
    • Follow manufacturer's specifications to extend equipment life.
    • Remedy breakdowns cost-effectively and efficiently.
    • Ensure quality repairs by authorized personnel.
    • Implement emergency plans to ensure uninterrupted production.

 

  • Maintain a Clean Plant/Environment (6S Compliance)
    • Keep the plant free of debris and obstacles.
    • Maintain grids to standard.
    • Promote good housekeeping to staff and contractors at all times.

 

  • Develop High Performance Teams
    • Encourage active participation in problem-solving and continuous improvement.
    • Ensure staff competence and facilitate continuous learning.
    • Conduct performance appraisals and coach supervisors.
    • Monitor and manage the training needs of all section personnel.

 

  • Sound Business Practices
    • Optimize operational costs and communicate control mechanisms.
    • Implement contingency plans for effective deviation management.
    • Analyze section effectiveness and introduce positive changes.
    • Improve cost control

 

About you :

  • 15 years’ experience in Mineral sands or equivalent industry in a senior management role.
  • Strong and proven track record within the Mineral Sands industry.
  • Strong team building skills with a focus on working within intercultural environments.
