Comilog Dunkerque alongside Eramet Norway, Eramet Marietta and Comilog’s Moanda Metallurgical Complex—is one of the Eramet Group’s manganese alloy producing plants that work in synergy in order to improve efficiency. For example, the Dunkirk plant uses by-products from Eramet Norway’s plants.

The Comilog Dunkerque facility is determined to play an active role in protecting its environment and improving its industrial practices: Comilog Dunkerque is careful to keep its energy consumption to a minimum and complies with the needs of the public power grid when required, On-site rainwater collection: a new settling pond has been built to capture and decant rainwater before it is reused in the production process, The dust emitted by the process is captured and transformed into briquettes before being recycled in the furnace.

Context:

Within the COMILOG Dunkirk Company and under the responsibility of the Process Metallurgy and Laboratory Engineer, you will contribute to gathering information related to the safety and stability of the silico-manganese production process. You will participate in the implementation of innovative solutions and assist in the medium- and long-term development of the plant.

Duration: 1 year (possible extension to 2 years)

Occasional travel may be required within France or internationally. The total number of trips will not exceed 2 weeks per year.

 

Main Missions:

In this context, the intern will participate in the "Process & Control" process.

  • Monitor the operational points of the furnace: recipes, adjustments, implementation, and monitoring of operational instructions.
  • Track the technical KPIs of the process on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis. Use and improve electronic dashboards (Supervision, Optimistik).
  • Establish material and energy balances.
  • Apply optimization studies of technical-financial parameters (metallurgy, energy) considering customer constraints and available raw materials.
  • Contribute to technical exchanges within the plant with the Group entities responsible for R&D, the CTO (Central Technical Office), and the Commercial Management. In this capacity, you will contribute to the work of the ICG (International Competence Groups) concerning COMILOG Dunkirk (Refractories, SiMn Metallurgy, Cold Loop, Analysis & Sampling, Electrodes, Environment), and may act as a contact for several of them.

 

Your Profile:

  • Student in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemistry, or Process Engineering.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis methods.
  • You are rigorous and organized.
  • You have active listening skills, can empower and support teams.
  • You have excellent written and oral communication skills in French and English.
  • You are a source of proposals and process improvements.
  • You are proficient with Windows and curious about specific software (Project, SAP, JMP, group software, etc.).
  • A valid driver's license and vehicle are required.
