Area construction Manager (for HPAL or Permanent facilities, SAP power, Dewatering plant)

Location:  Halmahera,Indonesia

Job purpose
• Sonic Bay project aims at developing an industrial complex in Indonesia to produce and intermediate Nickel and Cobalt concentrate from the Weda Bay ore deposit (Halmahera Island). The project scope includes an ore preparation plant, an hydrometallurgical plant using High Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) technology to produce the concentrate, a power plant, a sulfuric acid plant and a tailings storage facility.
The Sonic Bay construction area manager HPAL is in charge to control the good execution of all the construction activities, to alert in case of slippage of the time schedule, to control the cost of the construction in his perimeter
He will work closely with HSE, quality, engineering, procurement, material management, time schedule to ensure that construction activities are properly organized and executed by EPC and Construction contractors

 

Main responsibilities
Preparation of the construction phase, to be done with the construction supervisors and QC and other departments
• To check the robustness of the time schedule in his perimeter
• To check the availability of the documentation from engineering
• To check the availability of the material and equipment
• To check the availability of the resources of the EPC and Construction companies (workforce, equipment for construction ….)
• To check the readiness of the layout of the site during the construction, including the laydown areas
• To check the availability of the plans for execution of the construction (plan for execution, risks analysis, lifting plans….)
• To participate to the weekly progress meeting organized by the EPC contractor
• To report to the construction manager about the readiness and to alert in case of danger
• To coach the supervisors and QC, to make sure they have understood their duty especially in term of HSE, quality control, progress measurement
• To cooperate actively with the other areas managers, QC manager, HSE manager, Time schedule manager, cost control
Execution of construction
• To organize the 4 weeks look ahead program for the supervisors and QC
• To identify all the difficulties as quick as possible and to escalate to the construction manager if needed
• To consolidate the weekly and monthly reporting in term of time schedule, progress, HSE , quality , cost
• To actively participate to the HSE management in his perimeter, to be an example in term of behavior
• To trigger or participate to the specific meetings requested by the owner or organized by the EPC contractor to solve the construction difficulties
• To be proactive, and to propose to the construction manager solutions to improve the construction progress, the quality, the HSE situation, the cost

 

Requirements

• Senior construction engineer
• Have a good leadership and Multidiscipline
• Very familiar with high level standard in term of HSE and quality
• Ability to report and to identify the main difficulties and to propose solutions
• Good communication skills and diverse international experience, specifically in working in Multi-cultural environment
• Fluent in English, Mandarin is a plus
• Experienced working in a multi-cultural environment
• Software: Microsoft pack office (Word, Excel...) Project planning tools (MS project, Primavera)

 

Position Location
• Job will be based in Indonesia in Weda Bay project site in Indonesia
• While based in Indonesia the position will involve some domestic (Indonesia) and international business trips to Beijing SNB office (engineering office)
• A flexible roster with long missions (to or from Indonesia)
