Purpose of the position:
In the frame of the Weda Bay project in Indonesia, the jobholder is part of the PT Weda Bay Mine Engineering team in order to:
- Produce and update water management designs to ensure safe and environmentally respectful mining and optimal productivity of equipment in PT Weda Bay
- Oversees hydrological and hydrogeological studies and ensures the compliance to best practices and safety regulations
- Oversees environmental studies and ensures the compliance to environmental regulations
- Provides and implement water management solutions to allow safe, environmentally respectful, and productive mining
Scope: JV between Tsingshan (majority shareholder) and Eramet, as well as PT Antam (10%). The company is opening (building road and infrastructure) and will be operating a mining concession (Contract Of Work) for a minimum 4WMT/y of Ni ore (up to 15Mwmt/y), while building and then operating a 30kt Ni contained NPI plant. Total investment for these operations is valued at 525M$. The total workforce in the mining project will be between 1 000 to 2 500 persons, including contractors
Mining Project Team: 35 persons
Interface:
- Eramet: VP Mining, Projects Director Weda Bay, DAI and safety from Mining & Metals Division, Corporate DERIP (environmental management), etc.
- Management of Weda Bay Nickel, IWIP, project sub-contractors
Responsibilities:
- Supervise performance and safety KPI (employees and contractors)
- Respect the environmental standards for the mining activity
- Oversees environmental studies and ensures the compliance to environmental regulations
- Provides and implement water management solutions to allow safe, environmentally respectful and productive mining
- Complete Hydrologic and Hydraulic analyses
- Prepare stormwater management plans
- Develops Erosion and Sedimentation Control layout and design
- Preparation of engineering drawings and specifications
- Provides technical support for Permitting stream activities and construction/industrial stormwater discharges
- Provides technical support Solid Waste permitting and design
- Occasional construction supervision and other engineering field investigations
About you:
- Master’s degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 10 years of experience in mine engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience in water management applied to open pit mining area
- Experience conducting geotechnical, environment and hydrology studies in a mine context
