Health and Safety Manager W/M

The Weda Bay Nickel (WBN) project is an industrial and mining project aiming to recover one of the largest nickel deposits in the world, located on the island of Halmahera in Indonesia.


As the Health and Safety Manager, you will have an exciting and challenging role, covering a variety of responsabilities including :

  • Supervise performance and safety KPI (employees and contractors)
  • Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines
  • Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety, for the well being of all our employees
  • Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and respect regulations
  • Raise awarness on health and safety matters and accident prevention by facilitating trainings and presentations
  • Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations
  • Inspect equipment and machinery to observe potentially unsafe conditions
  • Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle worker’s compensation claims
  • Recommend solutions to improve procedures and propose new prevention mesures
  • Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics
  • Promote the continuous improvement in performances and safety first
  • Liaise closely with the Mining Division Management Team: VP Mining, Contract Manager, Operation Manager, Geology Manager, HSE Manager & Director.


 For this position, we are looking for a profil has :

  • B.Sc. Or Master’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related discipline
  • Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
  • Proven experience implementing and enforcing health and safety policies
  • Proven experience as Safety Manager establishing a culture of health and safety
  • Ability to train, influence and motivate team members
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in mining industry
  • Minimum 5 years of experience at a managerial level and multicultural environment
