Manager Batching Plant
Job purpose
- Sonic Bay project aims at developing an industrial complex in Indonesia to produce and intermediate Nickel and Cobalt concentrate from the Weda Bay ore deposit (Halmahera Island). The project scope includes an ore preparation plant, a hydrometallurgical plant using High Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) technology to produce the concentrate, a power plant, a sulfuric acid plant and a tailings storage facility.
- The Sonic Bay manager of the batching plant is in charge to define the characteristics of the batching plant, the laboratory (if needed) and associated equipment (trucks, pumping trucks…. ), to participate to the biding process, to control the good the installation, to organize in close cooperation with the EPC contractor(s) and construction contractors the program of the batching plant, to supervise the production and to make sure the production is secured to support the good progress of the construction.
- He will work closely with HSE, quality, engineering, procurement, material management, time schedule to ensure that readiness and production of the batching plant is matching with the targets of the project
Scope
• To define with the EPC contractor(s) and construction sub contractors the characteristics of the batching plant, the laboratory , the need for equipment (Trucks, pumping trucks….)
• To participate to the call for bid and the selection of the contractor in charge to build and operate the batching plant , the laboratory and the equipment
• To supervise the progress of the installation of the batching plant
• To secure the readiness of the batching plant (delivery of the raw material, qualification, availability of the equipment…..)
• To elaborate the batching plan production program in close cooperation with the EPC contractor(s) and construction contractors
• To make sure the quality of the concrete production is reaching the expectations
• To make sure all the safety and environmental rules are strictly applied
Main Responsibilities
Definition of the project and bidding process
- With the EPC contractor(s) and construction sub contractors he will elaborate the different requirements of the batching plant and the laboratory, the characteristics and number of equipment (trucks, pumping trucks)
- With the procurement team he will participate to the bidding process and to the selection of the contractor
Preparation of the production phase
- To check the robustness of the time schedule proposed by the chosen contractor
- To check the progress of the installation of the batching plant and the laboratory
- To check the delivery of the equipment
- To check the availability of the raw material (cement, gravel, sand …)
- To prepare the ramp up program of the batching plant including the qualification
- To organize the weekly progress meeting with the contractor
- To cooperate actively with the other areas managers, QC manager, HSE manager, Time schedule manager, cost control
- To make sure all the environmental measures (drainage, pounds, controls….) are properly defined
Production phase
- To elaborate with the EPC contractor(s) and construction contractors the 4 weeks look ahead program
- To secure the delivery of raw materials (cement, gravel, sand ...)
- To control the quality of the production of concrete
- To control the conformity and availability of the equipment
- To make sure that all activities are done according the laws, standards
- To identify all the difficulties as quick as possible and to escalate to the area manager if needed
- To consolidate the weekly and monthly reporting in term of time schedule, progress, HSE ,quality , cost
- To actively participate to the HSE management in his perimeter, to be an example in term of behavior
- To be proactive, and to propose to the area manager solutions to improve the production, the quality, the HSE situation, the cost
- To check the good implementation of all environmental measures
Requirements
• Senior civil work engineer
• Bachelor degree in civil engineering or related
• Experienced in term of contract management
• Have experience in Leadership or manage a team
• Very familiar with high level standard in term of HSE (including environmental measures during construction) and quality
• Ability to report and to identify the main difficulties and to propose solutions
• Good communication skills and diverse international experience, specifically in working with multi-cultural environment
• Fluent in English is a must
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
• Software: Microsoft pack office (Word, Excel...) Project planning tools (MS project, Primavera)
