Mine Operation Safety Superintendent (Crusher)
Purpose of the position
In the frame of the Weda Bay project in Indonesia, the jobholder is part of the PT Weda Bay Mining Division management team to:
• Conduct safety inspections and audits of the WBN Mining Division and its contractors’ crushers’.
• Provide improvement and implementation plans to ensure a high standard of safety is maintained.
• Identify all potential safety training for all the areas of WBN’s Mining Division and its contractors in accordance with the requirements to ensure that the crusher operations are safe.
• Perform Essential Requirement compliance audits of the crushers’ safe practices.
Dimensions Scope:
JV between Tsingshan (majority shareholder) and Eramet, as well as PT Antam (10%). The company is building road and infrastructure and operating a mining concession (Contract Of Work) for a minimum 15 Mwmt/y of Ni ore (up to 60 Mwmt/y), while operating a 30kt Ni contained NPI plant. Total investment for these operations is valued at 525M$. The total workforce in the mining project will be between 7 000 to 9 000 persons, including contractors

Complexity Factor
▪ Mining operations across Weda Bay Nickel mining permit (3500 km2)
▪ Several teams operating simultaneously: up to 5 mining teams (contractors and WBN), haulage contractors, drilling contractors
▪ Various mining related operations: extraction, reclaiming, articulated dump truck and road truck haulage, crushing and screening, sampling, drilling and exploration works
▪ Multicultural environment, with communication in various languages (Mandarin, English, Bahasa)
▪ Weda Bay is a remote area (living is base camp) with a roster
Responsibilities:
▪ Familiarize with the Eramet Safety Essential Requirements as the core of the safety management system
▪ Develop a risk profile for Crushers based on the Essential Requirements and maintain an action plan for risk management.
▪ Provide overview and support with all crusher operations in the development and implementation of Risk Management practices (Risk Registers, SOPs, Take 5, JSA)
▪ Identify and report all HPIs/ HPOs and ensure they are investigated
▪ Lead the investigations as a subject matter expert
▪ Ensure that consequence management regarding violations and sanctions are executed
▪ Identify and ensure that all safety training in this area of responsibility meets minimum legal requirements and is benchmarked against best practice and industry standards
▪ Analyze safety data as a means of identifying opportunities for improvement programs
▪ Jointly work with the WBN Environmental department to ensure that occupational hygiene practices are aligned to best practice solutions.
▪ Ensure competent delivery of WBN HSE training for all crusher employees and contractors (includes safety team, operators of heavy equipment and crusher operations, haulage drivers and maintenance staff)
▪ Ensure that the Safety Training Passports are implemented and kept up to date
▪ Perform and Participate in Safety inspections and audits and ensure that action plans are developed and implemented
▪ Liaise closely with the Mining Division Management Team: Contract Manager, Operation Manager, Geology Manager, HS Manager, WBN Safety Department and Contractor Safety and Management teams
▪ Provide coaching and guidance to Crusher Safety Supervisor and Team to facilitate effective support and positive Safety Leadership
Requirements :
▪ B.Sc. in Environmental Health and Safety or related discipline
▪ Minimum 10 years of experience in mining
▪ Experience in quarrying or crushing
