Weda Bay, a strategic source of ore and a major focus of the energy transition.
Weda Bay Nickel, in which Eramet is a co-shareholder, is an integral part of the Group’s strategy to support the energy transition in a sustainable way by providing leading-edge solutions to meet the needs of the new metals era.

The Weda Bay Nickel mine, located on the island of Halmahera in northeast Indonesia, recently went into production in 2019. As part of a partnership with the Chinese steel group Tsingshan, the world’s leading producer of stainless steel and the majority shareholder of PT Weda Bay Nickel, Eramet brings its technical and operational expertise on the mining operations.

 

Mining Geologist & Reconciliation Manager W/M

 

Responsibilities : 
•    Geology & Planning
-    Prepare operational block models and update short-term geological models
-    Develop and communicate level plans to operations, integrating geological constraints and ore control
-    Ensure consistency of geological interpretation and mineralization trends with pit design

 

•    Reconciliation & Improvement
-    Monitor recovery, dilution and grade reconciliation at daily, weekly and monthly levels
-    Identify and analyze deviations; lead root cause investigations on reconciliation gaps
-    Propose and follow up corrective actions with relevant departments

 

•    Field Support & Supervision
-    Supervise ore spotting and quality control in the field
-    Support grade control teams with clear interpretation of geological features
-    Conduct field inspections and validate compliance with geological guidelines

 

•    Training & Culture
-    Design and implement training programs for operators, spotters, and contractor supervisors
-    Promote geological understanding and selectivity awareness in the field teams

 

About you: 
•    BSc/MSc degree in Geology or Mining Geology
•    Minimum 8 years in selective mining operations, ideally with nickel or lateritic ores
•    Software proficiency, strong data discipline.
•    Experience with dashboards (Power BI, Tableau), and database tools.
•    Understanding of short- and medium-term mine planning concepts.
•    Knowledge of equipment performance metrics and mining productivity levers.
•    Strong Excel, data modeling, and reporting capabilities
•    Ni Competent Persons recognition is a plus.
•    Hands-on leadership in the field; ability to coach diverse teams and contractors
•    Bias for operational excellence and continuous improvement; strong problem solving
•    Clear communication and influence across technical/operational stakeholders
•    Resilience and adaptability in remote, fast-changing contexts
•    Field presence and collaboration with operators and supervisors.
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
•    Fluent English required. 
•    Bahasa Indonesia or Mandarin are valuable assets.
