Mining Project Chief Engineer W/M

ERAMET is a world leader in alloying metals, particularly manganese and nickel, and in high-quality metallurgy. In addition, ERAMET is developing major projects in new activities with high growth potential, such as mineral sands (titanium dioxide and zirconium), lithium and recycling. The Group employs about 13,000 people in 20 countries.

The Weda Bay Nickel (WBN) project is an industrial and mining project aiming to recover one of the largest nickel deposits in the world, located on the island of Halmahera in Indonesia.

 

The Mining Project Chief Engineer will have for missions to :

  • Supervise performance and safety KPI (employees and contractors)
  • Respect the environmental standards for the mining activity in liaison with the environmental department of Eramet.
  • Recruit and manage the surveying team and environment team and geotechnical and hydrology engineers
  • Oversees geotechnical studies and ensures the compliance to best geotechnical practices and safety regulations
  • Oversees environmental studies and ensures the compliance to environmental regulations. Ensure the successful implementation of an action plan to reach for IRMA certification of the mine within the next three years
  • Provides and implement water management solutions to allow safe, environmentally respectful and productive mining
  • Implement and develop new surveying solutions:  drone and long-range fixed wing surveys, integrated data processing system such as DELAIR
  • Promote the continuous improvement in performances
  • Liaise closely with the Mining Division Management Team: VP Mining, Contract Manager, Operation Manager, Geology Manager, HSE Manager.

 

For that role, we are looking for a candidate as :

  • Master’s degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in mine engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing surveyor teams
  • Experience conducting geotechnical, environment and hydrology studies in a mine context
  • Experience in implementing of new surveying solutions such as drone surveys
