Safety Systems Superintendent

Location:  Halmahera,Indonesia
Contract type:  Permanent

Main purpose of the position
Reporting to the Occupational Safety Manager, the Safety Systems Superintendent is responsible for the development and the implementation of the Safety Systems: Management System, Training, Data, Risk, Compliance.

 

Scope of the position
In the frame of the Sonic Bay project in Indonesia, the jobholder is part of the Sonic Bay Project Safety team to:
1. Design, implement, keep updated and improve the company’s Safety Systems
2. Identifies and executes for all the areas of Sonic Bay Project, including its contractors, the:

  • Safety Management System related to standards and documentation
  • Safety data organization, analysis, and treatment
  • Safety Risk Management
  • Safety Training organization and planification

3. Manage a team of safety specialists
4. Implement and keep updated a general Risk Analysis matrix of the processes of Sonic Bay
5. Develop, implement, and keep updated the appropriate safety KPIs for the department

 

Major Responsibilities
Safety Management System SMS

  • Designs, keeps updated and improves the internal Safety Management System (policies, standards, objectives, documents, procedures and specifications). The SMS must be in accordance with the Eramet Group, best international practices, and Indonesian regulations and applicable to the Sonic Bay Project.
  • Supports the Occupational Safety Manager in the implementation of the SMS in all the areas of the Project and its contractors.
  • Plans and conducts internal and external audits to ensure accordance between processes implemented and the SMS.

Training

  • Develops, Identifies, organize and executes the Safety Training Plan for all the areas of the Project and its contractors in accordance with the requirements of the SMS.
  • Identifies and executes the Safety Training Plan for all the members of the Safety Team
  • Risk Management and Analysis
  • Implements and keeps updated a general Risk Analysis Process and matrix of the activities of the Project
  • Fosters a risk-based approach for all the activities of the Project by applying general and specific tools (Risk Analysis, Take 5, JSA, Work Permits).
  • Support Process Safety department with Risk analysis specific tools for changes and new projects (HAZID, HAZOP…)

Reporting and KPIs

  • Generates all the needed reports (internal or external) of the safety performance in accordance to the SMS requirements.
  • Determines and follows up the KPIs required for the performance of the Safety activities in accordance to the SMS requirements.
  • Ensure corrective action plans follow up and guarantee completion on time
  • Ensures the integrity between the safety performance and the information included in the SAFEE system

Safety Specialist

  • Ensures the availability of the Safety Specialists required by the critical activities of the Project
  • Guarantees by training activities that the Safety Specialists keep updated in their area of incumbency in accordance with the national and international requirements.
  • Ensure the quality of SOP and JSA development.

Other tasks as instructed by the line manager.

 

Requirements

  • 5 years' post-secondary education, ideally a Health & Safety Engineer or generalist engineer with additional training relevant to the field.
  • 15 years' experience in Health & Safety, with at least 5 years' experience on one or several major construction projects.
  • Health & Safety professional with technical expertise in construction and a solid training background in project Health & Safety.
  • Fluent in English, or Mandarin
