Safety Trainer
Job purpose
- The Safety Trainer is responsible for the delivery of the safety training in both Chinese and English.
- The role shall also develop, maintain, and update the training materials as per the training matrix established and the requirements from the N+1.
- The role shall visit the site from time to time, engaged with site supervisors & workers, keep tracking the site progress, access the validation of the safety training, and improve the training quality and validation continuously.
- The Safety Trainer reports to the Training Management Supervisor.
Key Position dimensions
- Preparing the training materials such as training plans, handouts, and slide presentations.
- Support the supervisor to develop, maintain and update the training matrix.
- Develop the training materials as per the thorough understanding of some procedures as required.
- Interpret local regulations & project requirements regarding health and safety control requirements and develop the training materials.
- Train all workers on company safety policies and procedures, including new hires and regular refreshers for existing workers.
- Conducting training sessions on topics such as fire safety, accident prevention, and emergency response procedures, etc.
- Evaluate effectiveness of training programs by administering pre- and post-tests, measuring skills improvement, and soliciting feedback from trainees and managers.
- Track the lesson and learns of accidents in the workplace and update the training materials to reduce the risks.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and EPC's training teams to create effective training solutions
- Deliver instructor-led training, conduct train-the-trainer sessions for multiple EPCs.
- Apply knowledge of adult learning theory to identify appropriate training media and methodologies based on audience learning styles, course content and desired learning outcomes
- Create training plans and strategies utilizing various learning methodologies and technology (online live training sessions, safe-paces eLearning courses, online and blended learning solutions)
- Work under tight deadlines with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Develop instructional material such as course handouts, visual aids, and multimedia presentations to supplement lectures and other teaching methods
- Deliver lectures, lead discussions, and provide feedback to participants
- Maintain records of employee participation in safety training programs and update the data for the traceability as required; Performs administrative duties to track completion of training, scheduling of classes and resources, compile and prepare statistical information on training program status
- Modify existing training and develop new courses to meet changing needs of the workforce
- Collaborate with other trainers to share best practices and develop innovative approaches to safety training
- Serve as subject matter expert on safety issues and contribute to the development of policies and procedures
- Perform administrative duties such as ordering supplies and maintaining equipment
- Position will require candidate to have flexibility to conduct training sessions during different shifts and be available to the needs of the various client groups this position will support
- Regularly communicate with management and employees to provide information about workplace safety matters any additional training needs of employees
- Prepare related reports and documentation
- Contribute to the safety campaign, develop the poster and brochure, and conduct the site workshops.
- Prepare and deliver the ID badge to trainees as per the training test results as required.
Requirements
- Ability to develop, update and maintain in house safety training materials.
- Solid skills of Microsoft Office application (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Solid skills of spoken & written technical Chinese and English are essential
- Willingness to travel and stay for certain period in Wade Bay is essential
- Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, or related field
- 5+ years’ experience in safety training or education
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver engaging presentations
- Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge and understanding of adult learning concepts and methods
- Excellent planning and organization skills, ability to independently manage multiple small to medium scale training projects from initiation to delivery
- Solution provider
- Master’s degree in safety, occupational health, or related field
- Experience developing online courses or e-learning content
- Instructional design experience
