Market Intelligence and Sales Manager

Main purpose of the position


The purpose of the Market Intelligence and Sales Manager position is to champion Eramet's mining interests both internally and externally in Indonesia. This involves attaining a comprehensive understanding of the entire nickel industry and related markets, analyzing market information to foster a shared vision within the Group, and strategically increasing Eramet's involvement and shareholder position in the WBN ore sales process for optimized prices. Additionally, the role includes enhancing local engagement for Eramet NPI sales from WBN and developing robust market intelligence on various products, providing crucial support to sales initiatives and projects beyond nickel under the guidance of the Sales Director. And provide market intelligence to support business development in mining in Indonesia.


The Indonesian nickel supply represents close to 50% of the world market. Following the ban of nickel ore export, Indonesia has entered into a massive development of its nickel industry. Within 10 years, Indonesia has increased its nickel refining capacity from about 100Kt Ni to close to 2 000KT Ni (NPI, Matte, MHP, cathodes and NiSo4). It has become essential to develop a precise knowledge of the Indonesian nickel market development to understand how the world nickel market will develop in the future.



  • The position is not directly selling products (ore or NPI) - which are sold by PT WBN/Tsingshan - and thus does not directly face customers to sell products, yet she/he must keep connection with the customers and collect reliable market information.

Major responsibilities / outputs


  • Follow the development of nickel mines and ore supply in Indonesia (capacity, new mines development, cost analysis)
  • Follow production and capacity development for nickel production (NPI, Matte, MHP, cathodes and NiSo4).
  • Develop cost model to follow production costs of production units and build up Indonesia cash cost curve (Ni ore, NPI, Matte, MHP, Sulfates, …).
  • Develop an extensive network in the Indonesian nickel industry (ore producers, traders, processing plants…) and represent Eramet in relevant professional institutions/associations (ANPI and others Indonesian Associations...)
  • Participate in WBN nickel ore sales discussions with Tsingshan.
  • Interact with WBN ore production team and IWIP nickel ore purchasing team and bring clear understanding of sales situation to HQ.
  • Active support in WBN NPI sales (local relay for planning, logistics, product management, quality, claims).



  • Engineering or business degree, supplemented by 5 to 10 years' experience in the mining industry in Indonesia.
  • Knowledge of the Indonesian market, based on 5 to 10 years' field experience in the raw materials industry in Indonesia;
  • Fluency in English, Bahasa and Mandarin Chinese.
  • Strong communication and networking skills.
  • Ability to analyze and build a market vision.
