Senior Exploration Geologist - F/M [Contract Based]
The Senior Exploration Geologist serves as Eramet Indonesia's technical personnel for mineral exploration, responsible for identifying, evaluating, and advancing exploration opportunities that support the Company's long term growth strategy in Indonesia.
The role execute and support exploration programs, contributing technical expertise to target generation, project evaluation, and field exploration activities, with a primary focus on copper deposits while supporting opportunities in other strategic commodities (Nickel, Lithium). The position supports the identification and assessment of prospective opportunities, while ensuring exploration activities are conducted safely, efficiently, within budget, and in accordance with Eramet’s technical standards and applicable Indonesia regulatory requirements
Responsibilities
- Exploration Planning and Target Generation

- Generate greenfield exploration targets using regional geological, geochemical, geophysical and geomorphological data.
- Develop conceptual geological models to guide exploration planning.
- Evaluate and prioritise targets and recommend follow-up activities to the Head of Business Development & Exploration.
- Exploration Project Assessment and Field Execution

- Contribute to technical due diligence by reviewing and consolidating geological and exploration data for target projects.
- Plan field logistics, including personnel, equipment, samples, supplies, camps and site access.
- Coordinate and execute field activities, including mapping, sampling, drilling, logging and other exploration work.
- Ensure field programs are delivered safely, within budget and in line with environmental requirements, technical procedures and QA/QC standards.
- Adapt field programs and make appropriate decisions based on exploration results and changing field conditions.
- Geological Interpretation and Exploration Follow-up

- Interpret geological, structural, geochemical, geophysical and drilling data to refine exploration models.
- Support geological modelling and resource definition activities where applicable.
- Recommend follow-up exploration based on technical findings.
- Ensure the quality and integrity of exploration data.
- Stakeholder and Contractor Management

- Build and maintain good relationships with local communities to support access and exploration activities, respect and adapt to local cultures, customs and community dynamics when working in the field.
- Coordinate consultants, contractors and subcontractors, including drillers, transport providers and social/environmental consultants.
- Reporting and Data Management

- Maintain geological documentation, field records and exploration databases.
- Prepare periodic reports on field activities, exploration results and key findings.
- Present exploration results and recommendations to the Head of Business Development & Exploration
Your Profile
Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering or a related discipline.
- Advanced knowledge of hydrothermal deposits
- Strong understanding of Indonesian regional geology and tectonic evolution.
- Advanced knowledge of exploration methodologies, geological modelling and resource evaluation.
- Advanced proficiency with geological software (e.g. ArcGIS).
- Fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
Experience and Requirements
- 3-5 years' experience in mineral exploration with a strong focus on copper exploration.
- Experience in exploration, target generation, drilling programs and geological interpretation at Sulawesi and/or Gorontalo area is highly preferrable.
Managerial and Behavioural Skills
- Escalates issues to the supervisor whenever possible before making decisions, while remaining able to make sound field decisions independently when working in remote locations with limited supervision or communication.
- Strong awareness of HSE and environmental requirements for exploration activities.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with local communities, contractors and multicultural teams.
- Physically fit and willing to work for extended periods in remote locations and challenging terrain
Business Travels
- Part of the time in Jakarta
- Frequent travel throughout Indonesia to exploration projects.
