Job description

 

We are looking for a new Head of Electrical Department at our smelting plant in Kvinesdal, to lead the electrical department.

The plant employs over 200 staff and 20 apprentices. We are looking for an experienced candidate with strong electrical expertise, motivated to work in a large and complex industrial company undergoing rapid development.

This is a newly created position, responsible for leading and budgeting electrical maintenance for the plant. The role includes people management responsibility for electrical engineers, planners, and electricians/automation technicians.

The Head of Electrical Department will ensure that our production facilities achieve high availability and uptime, and working to ensure the department can execute the plant's maintenance strategy will be a key part of the role. The plant has three large furnaces of 30 MW each, plus its own combined heat and power plant supplying 10-15% of the plant's electricity needs.

An increased focus on automation is planned for the coming years, so experience with industrial automation systems is desirable. The Head of Electrical Department will be involved in project work at the plant in collaboration with its electrical and project engineers.

The position reports to the Technical Manager.

 

Responsabilities

 

  • Lead, support, and develop the electrical department through improvement plans for people, technology, and organisation.
  • Ensure electrical maintenance of 3 x 30 MW furnaces and the plant's combined heat and power plant.
  • Establish and follow up a comprehensive maintenance strategy in line with Eramet's standards.
  • Exercise visible leadership: participate in audits, inspections, and employee dialogues, and ensure compliance with procedures and standards.
  • Use data and analysis for systematic improvement of maintenance work, including follow-up on maintenance plans, planned shutdowns, and acute incidents.

 

Your Profile

 

We are looking for an experienced manager with strong technical expertise, motivated to work in a large and complex industrial company undergoing rapid development.

We are looking for someone who collaborates well with others and communicates clearly, both in day-to-day operations and in strategic discussions. You take initiative, work independently, and have the ability to see the big picture while maintaining order and structure in your work.

You have a clear focus on results and know how to turn plans into action. In a role with responsibility for safety and risk management, we expect you to lead by example, both in terms of compliance with rules and the ability to react quickly and correctly in unforeseen situations. You must also be able to communicate well in English, both written and spoken.

 

  • Higher education in electrical engineering / automation / engineering, or extensive and relevant industry experience.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Competence and experience with maintenance management systems.
  • Strong HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) knowledge from industry or other sectors.
  • Experience with and motivation for continuous improvement work.
  • Languages :  Norwegian and English mandatory . If the person is English speaking, it is necessary to learn Norwegian.
