Automation Engineer

Eramet Marietta, Inc. is a metallurgical manufacturing facility located in Marietta, Ohio. A subsidiary of Eramet Group, a metals and mining company based in Paris, France, Eramet Marietta Inc. has roots in the Mid-Ohio Valley dating back to the early 1950's. Located on the site that was originally built as part of a vast industrial facility owned by Union Carbide, Eramet Marietta is only one of two manganese manufacturers currently operating in the United States. The company operates two electrode arc furnaces and a manganese oxygen refining unit. Eramet Marietta Inc. prides itself on producing and supplying high quality manganese alloys for the North American steel industry, advancing operational and environmental technologies and always working safely first. 

Major Responsibilities

  • Operation and Maintenance Users Support
    • Ensure the reliable operation of Process Automation computer hardware and software.
    • Provide technical support and assistance to users of Process Automation computer systems. Coach users with diagnostics and troubleshooting to secure continuity of operations.
    • Provide on-call after hours and weekend support.
    • Maintain Process Automation computer hardware and software HMI’s and PLC’s and their application programs.
  • Project Assistance
    • Contribute to continuous improvement of operation and maintenance through automation.
    • Manage or participate in the design, development, and implementation of Process Automation projects.
    • Provide support to plant capital projects as Process Automation and Control technical resources

 

Knowledg                Knowledge and skills             

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of prior related experience in PLC programming
  • Solid experience with Modicon PLCs and Control Expert, Unity Pro IEC and ProWorxNxT RLL programming software
  • Solid experience with Modicon PLC Remote I/O and Distributed I/O networks – Serial, Ethernet, Fibre Optic, MB+
  • Solid experience with AVEVA (Wonderware) InTouch HMI and I/O servers – OMI and OPC
  • Working knowledge of AVEVA (Wonderware) IndustrialSQL real-time plant Historian server and Historian client tools
  • Working knowledge of process instrumentation and actuators – inputs and outputs of the PLC systems – temperature, pressure, flow meters, power meters, etc., control valves, dampers, motor starters, VFD’s, Soft Starters, etc.
  • Working knowledge of serial interface devices and converters
  • Working knowledge of Ethernet networking
  • Ability to interpret hydraulic and electrical equipment drawings, familiar with AutoCAD
  • Proficient with MS Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Versed in analysis methodology such as root cause failure analysis
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong team spirit
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Deadline and detail-oriented
