Business Programmer/Analyst

Eramet Marietta, Inc. is a metallurgical manufacturing facility located in Marietta, Ohio.  A subsidiary of Eramet Group, a metals and mining company based in Paris, France, Eramet Marietta, Inc. has roots in the Mid-Ohio Valley dating back to the early 1950’s.

Located on a site that was originally built as part of a vast industrial facility owned by Union Carbide, Eramet Marietta is only one of a very few manganese manufacturers currently operating in the United States.  The company prides itself on producing high quality products, advancing operational and environmental technologies and always working safely first.

 

Main Purpose of the Position

 

The primary mission of the Business Programmer/Analyst is to solve customer information requirements by developing and maintaining software applications, and helping clients effectively use these applications. This role involves identifying client information needs, analyzing operations, and designing computer programs to meet these demands. Additionally, the Business Programmer/Analyst is responsible for improving existing systems, providing user documentation, conducting training sessions, and maintaining system guidelines.

 

Scope of the Position (key dimensions)

 

Operation and Maintenance

  • Full-stack designer/developer of business and industrial applications using web-based tools with Oracle and SQL Server relational databases.
  • Understanding the Business and Operations requirements to analyze, recommend, design, develop, test, implement, and document application solutions & reports.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to Business and Operational users. Coach users with diagnostics and troubleshooting to secure continuity of operation.
  • Create and update documentation for applications and may provide training to users on new or changed processes.
  • Maintain proficiency in relational database design on Oracle and SQL Server databases.
  • Maintain proficiency in Oracle front-end and back-end database development using SQL, PL/SQL, and Oracle Reports.
  • Maintain proficiency in front-end and back-end web development using SQL, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and jQuery.

 

Project Assistance

  • Manage or participate in the design, development, and implementation of Business and Industrial projects.
  • Collaborate with business leaders and departments to identify methods to improve performance.
  • Develop & deploy applications & programs to support Digital Transformation initiatives including Machine Learning, cost & time saving, and data analysis.

 

Major Responsibilities/Outputs

 

Operation and Maintenance: As a full-stack designer/developer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining business and industrial applications using web-based tools with Oracle and SQL Server relational databases. This includes understanding business and operations requirements, analyzing, recommending, designing, developing, testing, implementing, and documenting application solutions. Additionally, you will provide technical support and assistance to business and operational users, coach users with diagnostics and troubleshooting to ensure continuity of operation and maintain documentation for applications.

Project Assistance: You will manage or participate in the design, development, and implementation of business and operational projects. This involves collaborating with business leaders and departments to identify methods to improve performance, developing and deploying applications and programs to support digital transformation initiatives, including cost/time-saving measures, and data analysis.

User Support and Training: Providing user documentation, conducting training sessions, and maintaining system guidelines are also part of your responsibilities. This ensures that users are well equipped to use the applications and systems effectively.

Technical Support: You will provide on-call after-hours support as needed to ensure the reliable operation of process automation hardware and software.

 

Knowledge and Skills

 

  • Minimum of 3 years of prior related experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Working knowledge of relational database languages including, but not limited to Oracle SQL, Oracle PL/SQL, Oracle Reports, Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Working knowledge of web development tools and techniques including, but not limited to PHP, HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery,  REST, SOAP.
  • Working knowledge of UWP application development using C#/.NET in Visual Studio.
  • Ability to implement and troubleshoot programming changes and modifications.
  • Ability to define, develop, test, analyze and maintain software applications and programs to meet business and operational needs.
  • Ability to work independently or within a team throughout the entire project cycle from conception to implementation.
