The Electrical Engineer has the primary responsibility of ensuring the integrity and reliability of the electrical infrastructure of the plant. This person is also responsible for overseeing the modification of existing and installation of new equipment introduced into the plant electrical system to ensure it is compliant with all regulations and codes.
The Electrical Engineer must oversee projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget. This person will assist the Engineering Manager with the annual budget by providing input on necessary repairs, upgrades and associated costs. This individual will assist the maintenance department with troubleshooting and preventative maintenance procedures. They will also assist the process controls engineer with PLC related issues.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Projects require a detailed job scope from the beginning to make sure the equipment being installed meets the needs of the plant and conforms with the plant standards. A detailed job scope requires a complete understanding of the desired outcome as well as all plant standards and all regulatory criteria;
- Work closely with maintenance and production teams to provide technical guidance;
- Participate in day-to-day electrical maintenance activities when necessary. This can be related to emergency repairs to critical equipment, requested modification, or assistance in troubleshooting;
- Review and revise High Tension procedures to make certain they are accurate. As the electrical infrastructure of the plant changes, it is necessary to review the High Tension procedures to verify they are accurate and applicable. These procedures ensure switching operations, troubleshooting and maintenance tasks are performed in a safe manner;
- Review and revise lock out procedures as needed. Lock out procedures are to be reviewed annually to ensure the written and practiced procedures are the same. If not, the procedure must be re-written or the operators must be re-trained on the proper method of locking out;
- Provide assistance to the Automation Engineer for PLC related issues;
- Test and re-qualify High Tension operators according to company safety policy;
- Submit, update and validate electrical drawings in the document control system.
- Lead & manage the plant’s energy management system (ISO 50001)
About you:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering;
- Minimum of 3-5 years industrial experience, preferred;
- Knowledge in high voltage, transformer operation and maintenance, as well as industry recognized safe practices;
- Basic knowledge of system controls and PLC’s would be an advantage;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office;
- Familiar with AutoCAD;
- Strong project management and organizational skills;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Team oriented;
- Deadline and detail-oriented;
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
