Job description

The Safety Manager contributes to the development and implementation of COMILOG's Health and Safety vision, strategy, policy and standards, in accordance with legal and Group standards, and to ensuring that they evolve and are respected. Through his/her actions, he/she contributes to the protection of COMILOG employees, assets and all mining and production operations.

Proven expertise contributes to high standards of safety and hygiene, while fostering a culture of operational excellence.

 

Responsibilities

In charge of a team of over 100 employees, and reporting to the General Manager of COMILOG, you will be required to :

  • Develop a strong safety culture by promoting awareness, accountability and commitment to safety standards among all employees.
  • Develop and implement a global safety strategy in line with corporate objectives.
  • Coordinate action plans in close collaboration with the CODIR, the ExOp (Operational Excellence), the HR Department, the Occupational Health Department and the Eramet Group Safety Department (DSP).
  • Participate in Group prevention initiatives and attend weekly Group meetings
  • Identify, assess and manage risks related to mining activities and facilities, proposing appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international safety regulations and Group safety rules
  • Develop training and awareness programs for employees and subcontractors, to reinforce understanding of safety protocols.
  • Set up monitoring and reporting systems to evaluate the effectiveness of safety initiatives.
  • Conduct regular audits to identify shortcomings and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare and participate in the Group's monthly safety reviews
  • Collaborate with government agencies, industry organizations and external stakeholders to share best practices and safety standards.
  • Lead meetings and coordinate actions to improve health, safety and working conditions.

 

Your Profile

  • Engineer or equivalent with a minimum of 15 years' experience in safety in the mining or industrial sector
  • Managerial legitimacy through significant experience in team management, as well as at CODIR member level
  • Technical legitimacy through knowledge of safety-critical activities in the mining and industrial sectors, emergency planning and crisis management organization
  • A natural team-builder and leader, good communicator, able to manage change and steer projects in difficult contexts, able to analyze, challenge, persuade and work as part of a team.
  • Managerial courage is essential,
