Job Description
Under the supervision of the Head of the Geotechnical Department, you will be responsible for overseeing the geotechnical aspects of Comilog's mining projects. You will ensure the implementation of international best practices for the management of tailings and waste rock structures, as well as other facilities related to mining operations (pits, roads, platforms).
You will also work on the management of mine water to ensure its proper integration into our projects and compliance with environmental standards.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team and work closely with technical departments and operational teams across Comilog's various sites.
Responsibilities
Geotechnical Studies:
- Conduct or supervise stability analyses of mining structures.
- Inspect geotechnical structures and address identified issues (collapses, erosion, cracks).
- Participate in the design, implementation, and monitoring of geotechnical structures.
Mine Water Management:
- Lead studies on water management in mining projects.
- Supervise the design and implementation of water management structures (basins, drains, canals).
- Contribute to the development and periodic update of water management plans.
Management and Coordination:
- Train and raise awareness among teams on geotechnical risks and best practices.
- Develop and share feedback to improve practices.
- Ensure technical and regulatory monitoring in the fields of geotechnics and hydrogeology.
Your Profile
- Engineering degree in Geotechnics, Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Civil Engineering.
- At least 8 years of experience in geotechnics applied to mining or public works, preferably in open-pit mining.
- Proficiency in modeling software (Surpac, AutoCAD, Rocscience).
- Project management skills and the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
- Experience in hydrogeology is an asset.
- Strong field orientation and commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Fluent in English.
