Moanda, GA
Comilog, a key player in manganese ore production.
A Gabonese company and subsidiary of the Eramet group, the Compagnie Minière de l’Ogooué (COMILOG) specializes in the extraction and processing of manganese ore. It is the world's leading producer.
Our ambition is to maintain this position as a global leader. Our teams are committed to a sustainable transformation that incorporates the best practices in mining and metallurgy. Our ability to engage in transparent dialogue and co-creation, based on an ethical model, with our host communities and local authorities is the foundation of profitable operations for all our stakeholders.
Job Description:
Reporting to the COMILOG Chief Financial Officer and the Eramet Group Africa Procurement & Supply Chain Director, you will lead the Procurement and Supply Chain function at COMILOG, based in Moanda, Gabon. In a multi-site, multicultural and international industrial environment, you will deploy the Procurement and Supply Chain strategy in line with Group priorities and the company’s operational challenges.
You will ensure the acquisition of the supplies, services and works required for COMILOG’s activities, across a procurement portfolio of more than €450 million, while seeking the best balance between cost, quality, lead time, availability, risk management and sustainable performance. You will lead an organisation of more than 70 employees, improve procurement and logistics lead times, contribute to the resilience of supply chains and drive the transformation of the function in close partnership with the operational functions and Group teams.
Responsibilities:
- Implement COMILOG’s Procurement and Supply Chain strategy, then steer the associated budget, action plans and performance indicators, including P&L savings, cost avoidance, working capital, spare-parts availability, inventories, procurement and logistics lead times, and CSR objectives.
- Position Procurement and Supply Chain as a strategic business partner by involving the function early in investment and major projects, and by regularly communicating the value created.
- Define and deploy category-based sourcing strategies, lead tenders and high-level negotiations, and steer Total Cost of Ownership, design-to-cost and spend-consolidation initiatives in coordination with Group teams.
- Develop a competitive, diversified and resilient panel of local and international suppliers, strengthen local content and foster the emergence of Gabonese supplier ecosystems, while integrating social, environmental and ethical requirements into purchasing decisions.
- Steer supplier performance and risk management, identify strategic and critical suppliers, lead relationships with Key Supplier Managers, monitor contractual commitments and arbitrate any claims or disputes.
- Guarantee operational excellence across the Budget-to-Pay process, from purchase requisition to supplier payment, ensuring smooth and traceable flows, internal control, compliance and continuous improvement in service levels and lead times.
- Deploy a high-performing and resilient Supply Chain covering supply planning, logistics, transit, customs, spare-parts and raw-material inventories, as well as warehouse management, while reducing shortages, lead times and supply risks.
- Manage, structure and develop COMILOG’s Procurement and Supply Chain teams, support recruitment, skills development, succession planning and employee empowerment in an intercultural environment.
- Lead the transformation programme for the Procurement and Supply Chain function across the COMILOG scope by steering projects, change management, communication, training and adoption of the Group’s new standards.
- Ensure compliance with Group policies and standards relating to governance, ethics, quality, health, safety, environment and CSR, and contribute to sharing best practices with other African entities.
Your Profile:
- A Master’s degree or equivalent in business or engineering, ideally complemented by a postgraduate qualification in Procurement and/or Project Management.
- 15 years+ of experience in senior Procurement and Supply Chain roles, including at least 10 years in a leadership role managing large international teams within an international, multi-site industrial group. Experience in the mining sector is an asset; significant experience in another industrial sector is also relevant.
- Demonstrated expertise in high-level negotiation, category strategies, Strategic Sourcing, Total Cost of Ownership, design-to-cost and strategic supplier relationship management.
- Strong command of Supply Chain topics, including supply planning, logistics, transit, customs, inventory and warehouse management, as well as supply-chain resilience and business-continuity levers.
- Comfortable operating in complex organisations, you understand the challenges of Procurement and Supply Chain information systems, system integration and data reliability. You also have solid experience in leading transformation programmes, project management and change management in multi-entity and multicultural environments.
- Comfortable working in an international matrix organisation, you know how to influence and unite diverse stakeholders, from executive management to operational teams and suppliers.
- Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken.
- Charismatic, rigorous and principled, you are recognised for your leadership, results orientation, initiative, resilience and agility in complex and transforming environments. You have a strong commitment to customer focus, sustainable performance and people development.
