Job description :

We are looking  a Technical and Industrial Services Buyer (M/F) to join our subsidiary SLN, based in New Caledonia. In this strategic role, you will lead the procurement of technical and industrial services in a demanding and rapidly evolving environment. Your main responsibility will be to develop a deep understanding of the market and to find available solutions, to build a relevant and high-performing purchasing strategy. Working closely with operational teams, you will contribute to process optimization and continuous improvement. Positioned at the heart of SLN’s industrial challenges, you will have a direct impact on the company’s sustainable performance in New Caledonia.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Define and implement the purchasing strategy for technical and industrial services by ensuring a solid understanding of the market, offerings, and cost drivers.
  • Manage the entire procurement process: needs identification, tendering, technical and commercial analysis, negotiation, contracting, and supplier performance monitoring.
  • Coordinate closely with operational teams (plant and mining sites) to ensure service quality and the achievement of objectives.
  • Oversee supplier qualification and audits in alignment with QHSE requirements.
  • Support the deployment of SLN policies (safety, environment, energy, quality, operational excellence) and contribute to the continuous improvement of procurement processes.

 

About you:

Master’s degree (Bac +5) with a specialization in Purchasing or Business, or a technical background with purchasing experience. You have at least 5 to 10 years of experience in technical and industrial procurement, and you demonstrate:

  • Proficiency in contract management, supplier relationship management, supplier performance evaluation, and both written and verbal negotiation techniques.
  • Strong adaptability and ability to assess situations that may pose risks to operational continuity.
  • Excellent negotiation skills, especially under high-pressure situations.
  • Good knowledge of procurement and supply chain IT tools.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Mastery of the tendering process, contract management, and purchase order workflows.
