Job Description:

 

Reporting to the CEO of SLN and as a member of the Executive Committee, you will define and drive the company's mining strategy to ensure a secure, competitive, and sustainable supply to the metallurgical plant as well as to external customers.

You will ensure the overall performance of multi-site mining operations, with a focus on operational excellence, cost control, and environmental and social responsibility.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

Strategic Vision and Mining Model Transformation

  • Define and deploy an ambitious mining strategy, aligned with SLN's and the Group's industrial and financial roadmap.
  • Lead the transformation of the operational model towards greater competitiveness, robustness, and sustainability.
  • Balance priorities between short-term performance and long-term resource preservation.
  • Anticipate developments in the nickel market and adapt the industrial setup accordingly.

 

Operational Performance and Industrial Excellence

  • Oversee all mining centers and associated functions (geology, planning, studies, operational excellence).
  • Ensure the achievement of production targets in terms of volume, quality, cost, and schedule.
  • Deploy structured continuous improvement and productivity optimization initiatives.
  • Ensure the reliability and consistency of short, medium, and long-term mine plans in line with the metallurgical plant's requirements.

 

Organization, Leadership, and Skills Development

  • Continuously challenge the organization to align structures, processes, and responsibilities with operational and economic objectives.
  • Adapt working methods to strengthen agility, accountability, and collective performance.
  • Unite teams around a clear and demanding vision.
  • Develop the technical and managerial skills of teams, particularly those of mining center managers.
  • Identify and prepare key talents to secure continuity and the maturity growth of the organization.
  • Foster a culture of high standards, safety, ethics, and continuous improvement at all levels.

 

Safety, Environment, and Social Responsibility

  • Embody an exemplary health and safety culture.
  • Ensure compliance with mining, environmental, and social regulations.
  • Oversee rehabilitation plans and ensure responsible resource management.
  • Embed mining operations within a framework of dialogue and co-construction with local communities.

 

Financial Steering and Capital Investment

  • Develop and manage operational and capital budgets.
  • Ensure cost control and operational competitiveness in a volatile market environment.
  • Oversee major projects related to deposit development and equipment renewal.

 

Representation and Institutional Relations

  • Represent SLN before administrative, provincial, and customary authorities.
  • Actively contribute to relations with local and institutional stakeholders.

 

 

Your Profile:

 

Education

  • Engineering degree (Mining, Geology, or equivalent Master's level minimum).
  • A background in management or finance is an asset.

 

Experience

  • 15 to 20 years of minimum experience in the extractive industry.
  • Significant experience in managing complex mining operations, ideally multi-site.
  • Proven experience in managing large, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Solid experience in budget management and the execution of major investment projects.

 

Key Skills

  • Mastery of mining processes: geology, planning, operations, and rehabilitation.
  • Good understanding of industrial challenges related to supplying a metallurgical plant.
  • Strong economic analysis and industrial asset management capabilities.
