Non-Mining Freight Business Unit Coordinator - W/M

A subsidiary of the Compagnie Minière de l’Ogooué (Comilog), the Société d’Exploitation du Transgabonais (Setrag) is the concession holder of the railway line connecting Owendo to Franceville. As a true catalyst for the country’s economic development, the Transgabonais is undergoing an ambitious Rehabilitation Program led by the State and Setrag. With a workforce of over 1,700 employees, 24 stations across 5 provinces, and more than 38 years of experience, Setrag transports nearly 330,000 passengers per year and over 10 million tons of freight—90% of which is mineral cargo.

 

Job Description:

Reporting to the Director of Railway Operations, the Non-Mining Freight Business Unit Coordinator oversees and coordinates all commercial and operational activities related to non-mining freight (timber, hydrocarbons, containers, and other goods).

The role is responsible for ensuring the BU’s economic performance, service quality, customer satisfaction, and operational safety in a context of modernization and process digitalization.

He/she manages a team of approximately 30 employees (freight operations, planning, customer relations) and coordinates with other departments (Traffic Management, Infrastructure, Rolling Stock, Maintenance).

The position covers an annual freight volume of about 650,000 tons, with a portfolio of 42 industrial and commercial clients.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Commercial Management and Coordination

  • Supervise BU managers and ensure achievement of revenue and profitability targets.
  • Develop and update commercial offers and pricing grids according to market needs and technical constraints.
  • Negotiate and monitor transport contracts, ensuring compliance with customer commitments.
  • Develop new market segments and strengthen Setrag’s position in non-mining freight.

Planning and Logistics Optimization

  • Consolidate short- and medium-term freight forecasts and anticipate customer needs.
  • Participate in train scheduling in coordination with Rolling Stock, Traffic, and Infrastructure departments.
  • Reduce equipment turnaround times and downtime while ensuring safety and reliability.
  • Lead strategic projects to optimize freight flows and operational performance.

Customer Relations and Sales Administration

  • Ensure satisfaction of key customers (especially timber, hydrocarbons, and industrial operators).
  • Oversee invoicing, collection, and claims management.
  • Maintain proactive and transparent communication with clients.

Transformation and Digitalization

  • Contribute to the deployment of digital tools for real-time order tracking and management.
  • Automate quotation, contracting, and invoicing processes.
  • Produce and analyze KPIs to support strategic steering and decision-making.

Team Leadership and Continuous Improvement

  • Unite, support, and develop teams around a culture of performance, safety, and customer satisfaction.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration and interdepartmental coordination.
  • Lead change initiatives in a fast-evolving environment.

 

Your Profile:

 

Education:

  • Master’s degree (Bac +5) in Logistics, Transport, Supply Chain, Economics, Management, or equivalent.
  • Additional training in management or commercial strategy (e.g., MBA) is an advantage.

Experience:

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in freight management, multimodal transport, or industrial logistics.
  • Experience in the railway or heavy supply chain sectors (timber, hydrocarbons, mining) is an asset.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of transport operations and logistics planning.
  • Proficiency with commercial management, invoicing, and performance monitoring tools (KPI).
  • Good understanding of regulatory frameworks for freight transport.

Behavioral Skills:

  • Inspiring leadership and strong results orientation.
  • Analytical mindset, rigor, and proactive problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and client relationship management skills.

Languages:
