Job Description:
We are seeking an Energy Category Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the Group’s energy procurement strategy, ensuring its financial and operational management, and contributing to the development of projects related to this function. This will take place in the context of cost control, profitability improvement, competitiveness, and enhanced service levels for the business. As an Energy Category Manager, you will play a key role in the transformation program of the Procurement function at the Group level. Your responsibilities will include sourcing and purchasing energy, managing CO2 quotas, and contributing to the implementation of the Group’s CO2 reduction roadmap. You will manage supplier relationships and ensure the company secures energy resources at competitive prices.

Responsibilities:
- Define and implement the Group’s energy procurement strategy in line with business unit needs and overall objectives. Conduct market analysis, map spending, and structure costs. Ensure communication and enforcement of the strategy across entities, coordinate the network of site-level energy buyers, monitor performance indicators, and train local teams.
- Negotiate and execute major energy contracts (electricity, gas, fuel oil, diesel) and manage operational trading and hedging activities, including carbon allowances.
- Research market trends, product availability, and emerging suppliers to guide procurement decisions.
- Support the Group’s decarbonization roadmap by contributing to initiatives such as mining electrification, renewable Power Purchase Agreements, and long-term nuclear or hydro contracts.
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships, assess their performance, and ensure high-quality products and services at competitive prices, aligned with the Group’s CSR goals.
- Negotiate, review, and oversee contracts to secure favorable terms and ongoing compliance.
- Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks through rigorous follow-up.
- Lead regulatory lobbying efforts on energy issues through industry associations.
- Ensure all procurement processes adhere to company policies and legal standards. Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, and CSR initiatives.
Your profile:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, and/or specialized master's degree in energy markets with at least 5 years of proven experience in the field of energy purchasing.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with supplier contract negotiations and contract management.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English.
