Environment and Permitting Manager

Eramine Sudamérica SA is a subsidiary of Eramet, a French global mining and metallurgical group. It is located in the Salar Centenario Ratones, at 3,800 meters above sea level, in the Los Andes Department, Salta Province, Argentina.

Exploration activities began 12 years ago, and at the end of 2019 our pilot plant started operations, providing a demonstration of the quality of the final lithium carbonate product, with more than 90% efficiency in direct extraction.

Environmental and Permits Manager

The Environmental and Permits Manager plays a strategic role in all of Eramine’s operations, ensuring global alignment with environmental and permitting strategies. They lead the environmental roadmap, ensure consistency with Eramet’s CSR and sustainability objectives, and provide guidance to project-level environmental directors and supervisors.

Location: Office – Site

Responsibilities:

  • Definition and leadership of the environmental strategy
    Design, implement, and oversee the permitting and environmental compliance strategy, ensuring alignment with Eramet policies and international standards (IFC, IRMA).
  • Strategic support to senior management
    Provide expert advice on regulatory trends, risks, and environmental performance to support the group’s decision-making.
  • Team management and capacity development
    Supervise and guide the Environmental team, fostering training, knowledge sharing, and standardization of practices across the organization.
  • Institutional relations and permit management
    Lead interactions with national and provincial authorities, consolidate permitting roadmaps, and represent the company in forums and multi-stakeholder discussions.
  • Supervision, auditing, and continuous improvement
    Monitor audits, indicators, and corrective plans, report environmental performance to management, and promote improvements in the environmental management system.

Your profile:

  • Education and experience
    Master’s degree in engineering or environmental sciences, with at least 15 years of experience in environmental and permitting management in industrial sectors, and 5 years in leadership roles.
  • Regulatory knowledge
    Strong command of Latin American environmental legislation and international standards such as IFC and IRMA.
  • Leadership and team management
    Experience supervising multidisciplinary teams, coordinating projects, and building capacities.
  • Institutional relations and communication skills
    Ability to manage strategic relationships with authorities, NGOs, and partners; fluent in Spanish and English; able to communicate complex issues clearly.
  • Key competencies
    Strategic thinking, influencing skills, integrity, autonomy, project management, and experience in international and multicultural environments.
