MISION

The main role is to manage and review the engineering work of Firefighting and HSE discipline done by the Chinese Engineering company, to ensure the design complies with applicable international or Argentina standards. He/she will interface the project insurance company on the Firefighting & HSE issues and integrate the recommendations/request in the design. He/she will also interface the local design conversion institute to make sure all the design drawings/documents comply with the COPAIPA requirements. He/she will coordinate various interfaces with other project disciplines, participate in technical clarification during contract negotiation with suppliers, participate in quality control, acceptance tests, commissioning and other activities during construction, commissioning, and start-up phases.

MAJOR RESPONSABILITIES 

The Firefighting & HSE engineer is part of the Project Process & Commissioning & operational readiness team to:

    • Assist Project Engineering Manager in consolidating the design criteria in firefighting discipline and HSE scope and ensure compliance during detailed design.
    • Represent the Firefighting & HSE practice in project engineering coordination/technical meetings.
    • Maintain close coordination with other disciplines for all activities being performed as the design evolves.
    • Collect the recommendations/request from insurance company and integrate them in the design.
    • Interface the local authorities for any necessary communication, clarification, or exchanges.
    • Work with the project EPC contractor team and the Chinese engineering company during the engineering development and carry out reviews as per project requirements.
    • Ensure compliance with Project Owner Requirement in terms of HSE.
    • Participate in HAZOP risk analysis.
    • Assist in the preparation and development of project specific procedures and requirements.
    • Prepare technical specifications where required. Prepare and contribute to technical memos and reports, within areas of expertise.
    • Participate in quality control of firefighting facility installation when required.
    • Ensure that all work designed, manufactured and supplied in the structural engineering discipline complies with the relevant sections of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
    • Undertake construction supervision and management dependent upon project demands and in accordance with project requirements in relation to safety, quality and project delivery.
