Internal Control & Risk Management Officer
Salta, AR
Eramine Sudamérica SA is a subsidiary of Eramet, a French global mining and metallurgical group. It is located in the Salar Centenario Ratones, 3,800 meters above sea level, in the department of Los Andes, in Salta, Argentina.
Exploration activities started 12 years ago and at the end of 2019 our pilot plant started operating, providing a demonstration of the quality of the final lithium carbonate product, with more than 90% direct extraction efficiency.
Internal Control & Risk Management Officer
Description:
The Internal Control & Risk Management Officer is responsible for ensuring the integrity, efficiency, and effectiveness of the organization’s risk management and internal control processes. The role ensures compliance with company policies and standards, and provides strategic guidance to Senior Management in the identification, assessment, and mitigation of strategic, financial, operational, and compliance risks. Its mission is to guarantee business continuity, protect tangible and intangible assets, and strengthen internal control processes and corporate governance.
Reports to: Regional Ethics & Compliance, Internal Control, Audit & Risk Management Officer.
Location: Office-based in Salta, Argentina. Requires frequent site visits (monthly or as needed). The position may require international travel.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and update operational, project, and other site-level risk matrices, identifying risk owners through structured interviews.
- Conduct risk and root cause analyses, evaluate impact, probability, current control level, current and target rating, and define action plans and residual risk.
- Coordinate and supervise mitigation plans, ensuring effective implementation and follow-up.
- Develop and implement a risk management training plan tailored to different organizational levels.
- Ensure consistency between action plans derived from audits, internal control, and risk management, applying Eramet’s defined methodology.
- Actively use corporate tools (Erarisk, Power BI, etc.), ensuring traceability and information quality.
- Deploy and promote EMS policies and standards, train the organization, and implement Internal Control, proposing new controls when needed.
- Ensure alignment of local procedures with the EMS, perform monthly controls, and promote internal control awareness across the organization.
- Support process owners in creating, updating, and reviewing procedures, as well as in establishing and monitoring action plans.
- Participate in data analytics and control automation initiatives and act as liaison with Internal Audit during audit engagements.
Profile:
- Engineer, Auditor, or Business/Finance professional (or related fields).
- Ability to work autonomously, rigorously, and results‑oriented.
- Knowledge of management tools (Power BI, Safee, Erarisk, etc.).
- Advanced/fluent English proficiency.
- At least 3 years of experience in audit, risk, or similar roles in multinational companies or Big Four consultancies.
- Availability to work in remote and challenging areas of the Puna as required.
- Strong ability to influence, coordinate, and mobilize multidisciplinary teams.
- Effective communication skills tailored to diverse audiences, including C‑level executives.
- Active listening, empathy, and firmness in upholding key policies.
- Ability to drive change and foster a culture of compliance.
