Eramine Sudamérica SA is a subsidiary of Eramet, a French global mining and metallurgical group. It is located in the Salar Centenario Ratones, 3,800 meters above sea level, in the department of Los Andes, in Salta, Argentina.

Exploration activities started 12 years ago and at the end of 2019 our pilot plant started operating, providing a demonstration of the quality of the final lithium carbonate product, with more than 90% direct extraction efficiency. 

SENIOR PROCESS IMPROVEMENT ENGINEER L2 M/F

Description:

Your role involves leading the optimization and continuous improvement of lithium carbonate production processes during the commissioning phase of CLP1 (target of 24,000 t/year) and supporting the implementation of new technologies for CLP1.5. The role contributes to operational excellence, sustainability, and knowledge development in both pilot and industrial plants.

This position reports to: Process Improvement Manager

Location: Centenario Ratones Project, Salta, Argentina.

Responsibilities:

- Analyze plant performance to identify process improvement opportunities.
- Develop, lead, and monitor the implementation of improvement projects.
- Conduct cost/benefit analyses and monitor performance indicators.
- Research and test new technologies, equipment, and methodologies.
- Lead testing programs in the laboratory and pilot plant.
- Ensure the implementation of scalable and high-impact innovations for CLP1 and future expansions.
- Train junior engineers and supervise knowledge transfer.
- Support and guide supervisors and technicians in laboratory and pilot-scale work.
- Train staff in new processes and methodologies.
- Promote and implement Positive Mining objectives: water, energy, and reagent savings.
- Apply process safety principles to all improvement initiatives.
- Ensure full compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
- Keep documentation of changes and technical updates up to date.
- Present improvement reports and recommendations to management.

Your Profile:

- Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
- 6+ years in process engineering roles, preferably in lithium or chemical production.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written); Spanish or French is a plus.
- Ability to work at remote mining sites under a shift system.
- Demonstrable experience delivering projects within a technically complex or resource-intensive environment over an extended period.
- Experience managing deliverables through external vendors.
- Extensive knowledge of process design, control systems, instrumentation, and plant performance.
- Experience with process simulation and analysis tools (e.g., ASPEN HYSYS, MathCAD).
- Familiarity with LIMS, MS Project, and Python for data analysis.
- Understanding of safety, sustainability, and regulatory compliance in process industries.
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Leadership and mentoring ability, especially with junior engineers.
- Autonomy in project and report management.
- Ability to adapt to multicultural and multilingual environments.
- Skill in managing conflicting priorities with determination and resilience.
- Self-directed, organized, and goal-oriented.
