VIE Mechanical Engineer - F/M

Eramine Sudamérica SA is a subsidiary of Eramet, a French global mining and metallurgical group. It is located in the Salar Centenario Ratones, 3,800 meters above sea level, in the department of Los Andes, in Salta, Argentina.

Exploration activities started 12 years ago and at the end of 2019 our pilot plant started operating, providing a demonstration of the quality of the final lithium carbonate product, with more than 90% direct extraction efficiency.

• Have applied on the Business France website (Mon V.I) between the age of 18 and 28 (no later than the day before the 28th birthday) 

• Be between 18 and 28 years of age on the date of registration. Departure on assignment must take place no later than the 29th birthday. No exceptions will be granted beyond this date. 

• Be French or a national of a European Economic Area (EEA) country 

• Comply with national service obligations (Journée de défense et de citoyenneté)

International volunteering - how does it work? 

Context 

ERAMET is developing a lithium carbonate production project in the province of Salta, Argentina, to meet the growing demand of the battery market. This project involves the construction of a plant located at high altitude, near the lithium mine, designed to produce a significant amount of lithium carbonate annually : About us - Eramet Eramine .

Reason for Recruitment 

As part of this project, ERAMET is recruiting a Mechanical Engineer (VIE) for a 12-month assignment, renewable up to 24 months. Under the supervision of the Mechanical Lead Engineer, the engineer will actively participate in the preparation and commissioning of the plant's mechanical equipment, ensuring a smooth and efficient startup. The position is based in the ERAMINE office in Salta, with frequent work periods at the plant site. 

Location : Salta - Argentina 

Estimated start date : as soon as possible 

Duration : 12 months 

Travels : Every week to Centenario at first, then in commissioning phase 7x7 (7 days at Centenario, 7 days off) 

Main tasks :  

• Participate in the review of engineering studies related to mechanical systems (compressors, dryers, centrifuges, conveyors, handling systems, etc.). 

• Define detailed commissioning activities and establish the schedule with the commissioning team. 

• Oversee the pre-commissioning and commissioning of utilities (electricity generation, water treatment, etc.). 

• Ensure the successful startup of the plant’s mechanical systems and overall production. 

• Support the progressive increase in plant capacity until full operational performance is reached. 

Your Profile : 

• Field: Mechanical Engineering  

• Education Level: Master’s degree (Bac +5)  

• Experience: First experience in mechanical engineering and/or production of mechanical equipment.  

• Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment.  

• Soft Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  

• Languages: Fluent in English and Spanish.
