Internship Mining tailings valorisation - M/F

Based in Trappes, France, Eramet Ideas is staffed by experts who work closely with site-based operational teams. Eramet Ideas has expertise in mining, extractive metallurgy and recycling, and helps to improve the Group’s short-term operating performance, while developing long-term projects in support of the strategic roadmap.

The internship is part of an innovative project led by Eramet Ideas, aiming to valorize ultra-fine manganese materials from residues of the plant located in Gabon.

 

The intern will join the mineral processing team and conduct laboratory experiments on mineral processing, under the guidance and mentorship of the Technical Science and Excellence (TSE) department.

 

This study aims to determine the technical feasibility and performance of mineral processing techniques applied to the valorization of low-grade manganese sludge from a washing plant.

 

The main tasks include:

  • Literature Review: Analysis of scientific and technical documentation.

  • Sample Preparation: Handling and management of raw materials.

  • Laboratory Experiments: Magnetic separation and flotation.

  • Material Characterization: Identification of minerals, contaminants, and evaluation of their characteristics.

  • Data Analysis: Compilation and interpretation of results.

  • Report Writing and Presentation: Technical reports and proposal of a preliminary processing flow sheet.

 

Desired Profile

We are looking for a motivated and proactive student with a strong interest in the technical and scientific aspects of mining resource valorization.

Education and Technical Skills:

  • Final-year student from an engineering school specializing in geology, metallurgy, chemical processes, or mining.

  • Knowledge of raw material characterization and mineral separation processes (magnetic separation, flotation).

  • Proficiency in office tools, particularly Excel.

  • Previous experience (internship or project) in a related field is a plus.

 

Personal Qualities:

  • Motivation and curiosity for innovation in the mining sector.

  • Proactivity and autonomy in task management.

  • Ability to work in a team and collaborate with external partners.

 

Languages:

  • English: operational level in writing required. Proficiency in French is a plus but not mandatory.

 

Duration and Location:

  • Duration: minimum 5 months, start date flexible.

  • Location: Laboratory based in Trappes (France).
